Individual therapy is a one-on-one partnership between you and your therapist. In a private, confidential space, you get to slow down, say what you actually think, and work through what is getting in your way.
This is not about being broken. It is about being human. Life brings stress, loss, transitions, and questions about who you are and what you want. Individual therapy gives you a place to work through all of it with someone trained to help.
At Key Points Counseling, our individual therapy sessions are personalized to you. We do not apply a one-size-fits-all approach. Your therapist will get to know your history, your goals, and your strengths, and will use that understanding to guide the work.
WHO INDIVIDUAL THERAPY IS RIGHT FOR
Individual therapy is a good fit for anyone who wants dedicated space to focus on their own mental health and personal growth. It works well for adults navigating professional stress or burnout, teens working through school and social pressures, and anyone facing a specific challenge they want support with.
If you are unsure whether individual or another format is the right starting point, our intake team can help you figure that out.
OUR APPROACH
Our therapists are trained in evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strength-based frameworks. Your therapist will draw from the approaches that best match your needs and goals.
Sessions are 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or biweekly depending on your situation. In-person sessions are available at our Houston office. Virtual sessions are available throughout Texas and Illinois.

Family Therapy in Houston, TX
Families are systems. When one person is struggling, the whole family feels it. Even if no one is talking about it. Tension builds. Communication breaks down. Patterns repeat. Family therapy helps interrupt those cycles and create the conditions for real change.
At Key Points Counseling, we work with families of all structures and backgrounds. Including blended families, multicultural families, single-parent households, and families navigating major transitions. We don’t come in with a fixed idea of what a family should look like. We meet yours where it is.
WHAT WE HELP FAMILIES WITH
Communication breakdowns between family members
Parent-child conflict
Blended family adjustment
Sibling conflict
Navigating a child’s mental health needs as a family
Divorce, separation, and co-parenting
Grief and loss
Major life transitions (new baby, relocation, loss of income)
Cultural or generational conflict
Rebuilding connection and trust
OUR APPROACH TO FAMILY THERAPY
Family therapy at KPC is collaborative and strengths-based. We look at the whole system — not just the identified problem or the identified person — and work with families to understand the patterns keeping them stuck and develop new ways of relating to one another.
Sessions may include the full family, subsystems (parents only, siblings only), or individual members depending on the goals and dynamics at play. Your therapist will work with you to determine the most effective structure.
